University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Dentistry

Clark & Enersen developed a master plan and completed several renovations for the University of Missouri – Kansas City’s (UMKC) School of Dentistry. This included establishing a new state-of-the-art training lab that is one of the largest in the nation and gives students the feeling of working in a true-to-life clinical setting. This enables them to get hands-on experience in preparation for performing dental care on patients.

The laboratory features 110 fully-equipped, ergonomically-correct work stations with head-and-torso simulated patients. Each station has its own monitor for viewing photos, videos, and other educational resources related to specific exercises as well as access to water for rinsing and suction, replicating a real dental operation. The design of the lab also makes it easy for faculty to move through the space to visit stations, observe student performance, and provide instruction.
