University of Colorado Boulder, Muenzinger Renovations

The University of Colorado Boulder’s (CU) Muenzinger Psychology building is home to the Department of Psychology and features classroom and laboratory space. This project included a classroom renovation on the 4th floor of the building and a laboratory renovation on the ground floor. The renovations were delivered as two separate projects so the owner could bid them out separately. Our team also worked closely with a contractor during the design phases through several pricing exercises to ensure the project would come in under budget.

4th Floor Classroom Renovation

  • Conducted meetings with users to inform design.
  • Renovated 1,300 square feet of underutilized space.
  • Created spaces for meetings, one-on-one and small-group counseling, and student testing.
  • Selected versatile furnishings for multiuse purposes.
  • Emphasized flexibility in design to support future growth.

Basement Laboratory Renovation

  • Renovated 2,600 square feet of outdated, vacant space.
  • Established one large, open 24-student teaching laboratory.
  • Added a cell culture room, fume hood alcove, and ample storage space.
  • Upgraded MEP systems with integrated A/V technology and improved LED lighting.
  • Plan for a major new building on an adjacent site.
