Southeast Missouri State University, Magill Hall Addition and Renovation
Clark & Enersen was hired by Southeast Missouri State University to perform an in-depth study of its Magill Hall and Rhodes Hall science buildings. Magill Hall originally contained 69,575 gross square feet and housed science teaching and research laboratories, administrative offices, general classroom space, and the biology, chemistry, physics and engineering, and agriculture departments.
Through the study, it was decided that an extensive renovation of Magill Hall was needed. This included the design a new addition to meet space requirements. The three-story addition features a lecture room and mechanical and electrical space on the first floor; two lecture rooms and a small conference area on the second floor; and dedicated mechanical space on the third floor.
The building renovation involved:
- Complete replacement of all mechanical and electrical systems.
- Replacing windows and the roof.
- Restoring masonry work.
- Furring out and re-insulating exterior walls to reduce operational costs.
