NDEE, Fallbrook Office
Clark & Enersen worked with NEBCO Inc., to design and construct a new 135,000-square-foot office building in Lincoln, Nebraska. Located in Fallbrook — a residential and commercial neighborhood — the facility houses the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy, which has 217 employees and is expected to grow to 245 within the next five years. The department leases 60% of the space, with the other 40% being leased to other tenants, including the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources, Nebraska Department of Agriculture, Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Nebraska Corn, Nebraska Wheat, Nebraska Ethanol, and Nebraska Sorghum.
The three-level office building features large conference rooms, multiple kitchen spaces, offices, outdoor space, and patio space. The design is drawn from Prairie Style architecture that permeates the neighborhood. The prominent horizontal lines, reaching eaves, layered forms, and natural materials are intended to integrate with the surrounding landscape and evoke a sense of harmony on the site. Sustainability and environmental sensitivity drove many of the design decisions for the project as the building embodies several LEED principles. The building continues to help grow the Fallbrook area, bringing new jobs to the rapidly-expanding community.
