Lincoln Public Schools, Moore Middle School
This project is a partnership between the Lincoln Public Schools and the Lincoln Family YMCA. The middle school serves grades 6-8, and the main entry is sheltered by a large raised canopy. It opens to a main lobby, and a two-story multi-purpose space that is at the heart of the facility. Amenities that are shared among the grade levels are offered to the east and west of this area.
On the first floor, the portion of the school closest to the YMCA consists of:
- Administration areas.
- A health classroom.
- A teacher planning center.
- Music and industrial technology classrooms.
- A kiosk staffed by the YMCA provides access to the middle school locker rooms, a fitness room, a single gymnasium, and a double gymnasium that lies beyond this point.
The second floor of this portion of the building contains:
- FCS classrooms.
- An art room.
- Health classrooms.
- A computer lab.
- A teacher planning center.
- A corridor leading through the atrium-like multipurpose room to the classroom pods.
East of the central multi-purpose room are media center and computer labs. Further east is a three-story classroom wing that incorporates the pod concept. Each level is dedicated to a different grade, and includes:
- General purpose classrooms.
- Two science classrooms.
- Two special education classrooms.
- A computer lab.
- Teacher planning center.
- Restrooms
- Conference rooms.
The classrooms surround a large locker commons that can be used during class time for collaborative learning and teaching spaces.
