Freeman Public Schools, Performance Gymnasium Addition

Freeman Public Schools, a growing school district with about 400 K-12 students, needed to replace a 1920s gym that had exceeded its useful life span. This project provided a new, 1200-seat, top-loading performance gym on the same site, as well as new boys and girls lockers rooms, coaches lockers rooms, new restrooms for spectators and school use, an elevator, and ADA access to the gym. Our team also created a new commons/dining area to ease space needs during lunch hours and serve community events. These amenities will help the school accommodate 600 students as enrollment grows.

The addition is a pre-cast concrete structure, featuring a herringbone pattern to reflect the design elements of the original gymnasium. The project also upgraded the HVAC system for a 1980s portion of the building and improved the electrical service.
