Colorado State University, Temple Grandin Equine Center
Clark & Enersen was selected to design the new Temple Grandin Equine Center on Colorado State University’s Foothills Campus in Fort Collins. The facility is named after Temple Grandin, a professor with CSU’s Department of Animal Sciences as well as an advocate for autism awareness and understanding.
Features of the $5 million facility include:
- 14,000-square-foot, climate-controlled arena with a 100-seat viewing area.
- Therapy room with an overhead track and harness.
- 10-stable barn with two wash bays.
- 100-person classroom.
- Mounting area with a PATH-compliant mounting ramp.
- Offices and conference rooms.
The Temple Grandin Equine Center is home to CSU’s equine-assisted activities (EAS), therapies, and research, providing a place to heal for individuals of all ages with physical, emotional, and developmental challenges. This is achieved through partnerships with Front Range Exceptional Equestrians, My Heroes Therapy, and Hearts & Horses. The facility is also intrinsically tied with another CSU building designed by Clark & Enersen: Vida, which is located on the CSU Spur campus at the National Western Center in Denver. Together, these facilities have the capacity to host upwards of 300 therapy sessions per week.
Construction on the Temple Grandin Equine Center began in February 2020, and the facility opened in March of 2021.
