Chadron State College, Athletic Complex Program Statement and Design
Chadron State College selected our firm as part of a multi-firm team to master plan a new football and track facility for their campus. The existing stadium was deemed structurally deficient, the natural turf football field was in a state of disrepair, and recruitment was at an all-time low.
Phase 1 of the project included a new synthetic football field with LED lighting along with a new video scoreboard, stadium press box, seating for 2,500 spectators, concessions, restrooms, ticket booth, suites for entertainment, media rooms, and storage. The new football field was moved closer to the stadium for better viewing angles and large breakout areas were created around the stadium for tailgating and parking. Phase 1 was completed in August 2018, and the Eagles finished the season 7-3 with record attendance and tied for third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
Groundbreaking for Phase 2 was held in April 2019 for the construction of the new eight-lane World Athletics performance track. The new track allows current and future students to excel as well as provide a facility capable of hosting meets, including the RMAC Championships. The track was completed in the spring 2020 and sits just south of the football stadium.
