Cass County Public Library, Pleasant Hill Branch
Clark & Enersen was selected to provide programming, planning, and design services for a new branch library in Pleasant Hill, Mo. The district purchased a building comprised of 3,600 square feet (SF) on the main level with a 2,000-SF basement. Our team designed a renovation of the existing space as well as one 700-SF addition and a second 5,000-SF addition.
Stakeholder input was secured through a community survey that was conducted at the time of the community’s vote for the tax increase and was used by the architects and library representatives in the development of the program. Following the programming phase, our team developed a schematic design of the new branch library through a series of three meetings with participants from Cass County Public Library and the Pleasant Hill Branch Library.
The building features an entry vestibule and after-hours lobby, multipurpose room, public meeting room, study rooms, offices, public restrooms, and public areas, in addition to the main library space. The public areas include spaces dedicated to collections, seating groups, student carrels, computers, and children’s activities.
