Clark & Enersen Welcomes Space Planner and Data Analyst Jack Dohrman

Clark & Enersen is elated to have Jack Dohrman, a dedicated space planner and data analyst, join the firm. Jack has more than 20 years of experience in facilities management, GIS (geographic information systems), and strategic leadership. Throughout his career, he has provided space analysis to help improve the effectiveness of facility and space utilization through efficient space management.

“Our firm has a long and successful history of providing space planning services to our clients, as we understand how critical it is to ensure facilities will meet both their current and future needs,” said Senior Principal Shawn Diederich, PE, LEED AP, WELL AP. “Jack’s facility space planning and data analysis expertise will further strengthen our in-house capabilities and provide invaluable insights to our clients.”

Jack joins us from the University of Nebraska System, where he served as the University Space Planner for the last 10 years. In this role, he worked to ensure over 20 million square feet of campus space was utilized efficiently and effectively, and space needs for students, faculty, and staff were met. He also served as board vice president for the Higher Education Facilities Management Alliance (HEFMA) for three years. HEFMA’s mission is to share “knowledge and resources support and assist members with achieving the innovative, effective and efficient use of campus facilities and space toward the fulfillment of individual and collective institutional goals.” Jack will leverage his knowledge and experience on higher education projects as well as other project types across our diverse portfolio.

“I’m excited to join Clark & Enersen, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented team,” said Dohrman. “Space planning and data analysis are essential to ensuring facilities not only meet current needs but are also adaptable for the future. I look forward to applying my experience to help clients create efficient, functional, and innovative spaces that support their missions.”

Through our in-house capabilities in planning – and with the addition of Jack’s space planning experience – our firm is able to facilitate a highly collaborative, thorough, and accurate approach to enable our clients to meet current and future needs. We meet with users to gain an in-depth understanding of how spaces are currently utilized, identifying what works well and what could be improved upon. We then analyze each space to determine whether or not it is being utilized as efficiently as possible. It is also important to gather data related to projected future growth and evolving user requirements, as these are often key indicators of whether existing spaces can be reconfigured to accommodate needs or if more extensive renovations, additions, or new construction may be necessary.

Clark & Enersen has extensive experience providing space planning services for universities and colleges, PK-12 schools, civic and government buildings, healthcare facilities, science and technology facilities, sports and recreation facilities, places of worship, and a wide range of other project types.
