Clark & Enersen Announces Alex Metschke as New Director of Commissioning
Clark & Enersen’s new Director of Commissioning Alex Metschke, PE, MBA, CCP, CEM, brings more than 10 years of experience in the engineering and commissioning (Cx) industry. Alex is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Omaha and is a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
“We are extremely pleased to bring Alex onboard to continue growing our Cx services,” said Senior Principal Shawn Diederich, PE, LEED AP, WELL AP, chairman of the board and director of Clark & Enersen’s engineering team. “Alex continues our firm’s commitment to assist clients in safeguarding the integrity and functionality of their projects while collaborating with them from the early stages of design for a project through construction completion.”
Alex has a wide range of project experience, including providing Cx services for healthcare facilities, laboratories, corporations, higher education facilities, retail stores, restaurants, mixed-use apartments, and multi-story buildings. Additionally, he began serving on the BCxA Central Chapter Board of Directors in January of this year.
“I am excited to join Clark & Enersen and to lead the growing commissioning team,” said Metschke. “Collaborating with clients to determine how to improve building operations has long been a passion of mine and I look forward to helping clients make educated decisions that will help ensure their facilities are functioning at the highest levels for years to come.”
Clark & Enersen’s commissioning team works separately from the firm’s design teams, providing independent oversight throughout the project’s process to ensure project documents, contractors, and construction managers meet the owner’s project requirements and each system’s desired functions. This process has many benefits and leads to lower operation and maintenance costs over the life of a building.
The experience of Clark & Enersen’s commissioning team covers a wide array of project types — office and retail facilities, hospital construction/renovations, PK-12 facilities, higher education research and education facilities, and research laboratories. Commissioning services include new construction, monitoring-based commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning. Our commissioning department can also assist in building system troubleshooting, with an emphasis on the building automation systems, energy audits, building assessments, document reviews, and/or system manual creation as well as leveraging new building technology to supplement building knowledge for improving the performance of existing facilities.
